So what in the heck is all this?Zumbachphotography.com is my attempt to do a daily photoblog and a way to show offmy favorite work to my friends and family. InfoI’ve been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. When I was five or six I remember my father getting old box cameras at flea markets and using them to take family photos, decades after they were obsolete. My grandfather had a darkroom down in his basement and that’s where I developed my first roll of film. When I was eight years old, my father bought me my first camera, a Kodak 110 instamatic. My next camera was a Pre-War 35mm folding Welti (http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Welti) with a Vebur shutter and Meyer-Optik 50mm f/ 2.9 lens (not as nice as the one with a Ziess lens). By the time I got the Welti it was probably 50 years old, but still much better than the Instamatic. My next hand me down camera was a Yashica FX-2. It came with a Ziess lens that was sharp as a tack. When I eventually saved up enough money to buy my Nikon FM2, the Yashica went back to Dad who gave it to another photographer in need. I kind of wish I still had it. My Nikon FM2 was my workhorse for the better part of 20 years. I bought it in ’83 and used it until I went digital, when I got my current camera a Nikon D200. I recently added a Nikon Coolpix P7000 as a “carry everywhere when I travel camera” for when the D200 is too big. There have been other cameras along the way, an Olympus digital point n’ shoot (really my first digital), a Mamyia C330 Professional, which I’ll still use from time to time if I want to shoot 2 ¼ film, and a recent addition, a Fuji film GA645i Professional, which is just waiting to have a roll of film run through it. . |
